Ages 5-16 | June 15 - August 21 | 8:00-3:30 with extended care from 7:30 - 6:00
We offer a unique and enriching experience where children learn valuable life skills while connecting with nature and building lasting friendships.
Our camp is modeled after the traditional family farm, where children learned by doing alongside mentors. Campers will gain hands-on experience with a variety of farm animals, including chickens, bunnies, pigs, goats, and horses. They'll learn about animal care, observe their behaviors, and build meaningful relationships with these gentle creatures.
Campers will explore a wide range of activities, including:
- Gardening: Planting, tending, and harvesting fresh produce.
- Farm-to-Table Cooking: Learning how to prepare delicious meals using ingredients from the farm.
- Creative Arts & Expression: Unleashing their imagination through art projects, music, and creative movement.
- Hiking & Wilderness Exploration: Discovering the wonders of the natural world through outdoor adventures.
- Water Play & Swimming: Cooling off and having fun in safe and supervised water activities.
Horsemanship is a cornerstone of our program. Every camper will be introduced to horses and have the opportunity to ride throughout the week.
We believe that animals are some of the best teachers. They are honest and non-judgmental, providing invaluable lessons in empathy, responsibility, and communication.
Developing strong partnerships is central to our philosophy. We begin and end each day with discussions on the theme of the day, such as teamwork, communication, and personal responsibility. These themes are then integrated into all our activities, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
Join us for an unforgettable summer camp experience filled with learning, laughter, and lasting memories!
Sunrise Community Farm Center is a vibrant educational hub in Chapel Hill where children lead the way in discovering the magic of farm life. Modeled after the traditional family farm, the center’s acclaimed youth programs - including award-winning summer camps, school’s out camps, and hands-on after-school care - empower kids to learn by doing.
Central to this experience is a comprehensive horsemanship and riding program designed for all ages, from toddlers in "Little Rascals" classes to elders seeking a new connection with animals.
Beyond youth activities, the farm serves as a resource for the whole community, offering adult classes, birthday parties, team retreats, seasonal festivals, and "Open Farm" Saturdays that encourage generational learning. It is a local gem where neighbors of every age can get their hands dirty, master new skills, and grow together in a beautiful, inclusive environment.
